Codes never die
You print a QR code once and it stays on tables, doors and flyers for years. So we make it a promise: a code made with QR Code Spot keeps working, whatever happens to your plan.
What we promise
If you cancel or move to a smaller plan
Editable codes keep working whatever your plan, with no scan limit: we never pause a printed code or put a paywall in front of it. Your plan decides how many of them you can change (Free covers 3). If you have more, for example after cancelling or moving to a smaller plan, everything carries on as before for 14 days. Then the extra ones lock: they keep opening the same page, but changing where they go needs a plan that covers them. You choose which codes stay editable (a pick holds for 30 days), and nothing is deleted.
Service requests never leave a guest stuck. After the same 14 days, tables and rooms above your plan switch to basic mode: guests still call staff with one button, and requests show on your live screen, without the request menu, notes, phone alerts or reminders. Staff logins above your plan lock, and the owner receives every request. Departments and service boards keep working; you just can't add more. A plan that covers everything switches it all back on straight away.
The full table is on Plans: what happens if you don't pay or cancel.
Taking your codes with you
On My codes, "Download all my codes" gives you a spreadsheet with each code's short link, name, destination and folder, so you always have a copy of where every printed code goes.
If QR Code Spot ever closes
If QR Code Spot ever closes, we'll give at least 6 months' notice by email, and editable codes keep redirecting during that time. Editable codes work through our redirect service, so once it stops they stop too. Downloading your destinations helps you recreate the codes elsewhere, but it doesn't move printed codes: those would need reprinting. Static codes don't depend on us.
What we can't promise
- Other websites. A code opens the page you chose, and that page is up to whoever runs it. If the page moves, change an editable code's destination; a static code would need reprinting.
- Codes that break the rules. We switch off codes used for scams, malware or other things our terms don't allow. The owner is told which rule and why, and can ask us to look again.
- Codes you delete. A deleted code stops opening its destination, so only delete codes you no longer need.
Questions
Do free editable QR codes expire?
No. Editable codes on the Free plan have no time limit and no scan limit, and nobody who scans them sees an ad.
Is there a scan limit on any plan?
No. Every plan counts unlimited scans; plans differ in how many editable codes you can have and change.
What happens to my codes if I stop paying?
They keep working. For 14 days nothing changes; after that, codes above the Free plan's limit keep opening the same page but can't be changed until a plan covers them. Nothing is deleted.
What if QR Code Spot closes?
We'll give at least 6 months' notice by email, and editable codes keep redirecting during that time. Download your destinations from My codes to recreate them elsewhere; printed editable codes would need reprinting. Static codes don't depend on us at all.
Do static or editable codes last longer?
A static code never depends on any company, so it lasts as long as the print and the page it opens. An editable code lasts as long as our redirect service, which is why we promise notice and an export.
