A Wi-Fi QR code for your Airbnb or holiday rental
"What's the Wi-Fi password?" is the first question most guests ask. A code by the door answers it before they message you, with no typos.
Make it in two minutes
- Open the Wi-Fi QR code generator.
- Enter the network name exactly as phones show it, the password, and the security type (usually WPA/WPA2/WPA3).
- Under Frame, choose "Scan to join Wi-Fi", so guests know what it's for.
- Download PDF or SVG for printing, and scan the printed code with your own phone.
The password stays in your browser: it isn't sent to us.
Where to put it
- By the entrance or on the welcome card: the first thing guests see.
- On the desk or table where people work, and in the house manual.
- About 5 cm wide is right for a card or a frame on a table. See the printing guide for other sizes.
- Matte paper or a matte frame: glare from a glossy laminate is the most common reason codes don't scan.
Write the network name and password underneath too. Laptops and some older phones can't scan codes.
Keep your network safe
- Use a separate guest network if your router has one, so guests can't see your own devices.
- If you change the password between guests or seasons, print a new code: the old password is inside the old one.
- Never put the router's admin password on a card.
A house guide you can update
Check-in steps, house rules, the bin day and your favourite cafés change more often than the Wi-Fi. Put them on a web page (a shared document works), and make an editable code pointing to it. When something changes, update the link or the page; the printed code stays the same. It's free with an account, and you can see how often guests open it.
Put the Wi-Fi details in your listing's check-in instructions as well, for guests who arrive late and tired.
QR Code Spot isn't connected to Airbnb. These codes work in any rental, guesthouse or office.
Questions
Is a Wi-Fi QR code free?
Yes. Wi-Fi codes need a free account (no card). The details are stored in the code, so it never expires.
Will it work on my guests' phones?
Yes, on iPhones (iOS 11 and later) and most Android phones, using the normal camera. No app needed.
Can I change the Wi-Fi password later?
Yes, but then print a new code. A Wi-Fi code can't be edited, because the password is inside it.
