What happens if you don't pay

Nothing you've made stops working. If you have more than the Free plan allows when the launch ends:

What happens
Your printed codesKeep working. Every code still sends scanners where you pointed it.
Button codesKeep working. Guests can still tap requests and your staff still get them.
Scan countingContinues in full for every code, so the history is complete if you upgrade later.
Seeing analyticsYou see one view of your choice. Upgrading shows all four, including the past.
Making new codesOnly while you have fewer than 3.
Changing destinationsUp to 5 a month.
Deleting codesAlways allowed.

What "codes never expire" means

A code made here keeps working until you delete it. There's no trial period, and codes aren't switched off because you haven't paid. The only codes we switch off are ones that break the rules, like scams, malware or illegal content.

Be aware of how dynamic codes work: a dynamic code points to a short link on qrcodespot.com, which forwards scanners to your page. That's what lets you change it and count scans, but it also means it relies on this service. If our database is briefly unreachable, codes fall back to their last known destination, so scans keep landing in the right place.

If you want a code that relies on nobody, use a static QR code: it holds your web address directly, so it works with or without us. It can't be edited or tracked, and it's free with no account.
