How to make one
- Name the event and set the time. The end time is optional; without one, the event lasts an hour.
- Add the place and details. Optional. A short line about what to bring or how to get in is enough.
- Frame, style and download. "Add to calendar" under the code tells people what it does. Test it with your own phone first.
Which phones support it?
Event codes use the standard calendar format (vEvent). iPhones (iOS 11 and later) and most Android phones offer to add the event when the camera sees the code. A few older scanner apps only show the text.
Time zones
The time is saved as local time, so the event appears at that time on the scanner's phone, wherever they are. That's right for in-person events. For online events with people in several countries, add the time zone in the details too.
Changed the date?
The details are inside the code, so a new date needs a new code. For events that might move, make an editable code pointing to your event page instead.
