A free dynamic QR code that doesn't expire

Yes, it exists. QR Code Spot's Free plan gives you 3 editable (dynamic) codes with no time limit and no scan limit, and they keep working if you never pay. Here's why so many free dynamic codes stop, and exactly what Free includes.

Why free dynamic codes stop working

A dynamic code doesn't hold your web address. It holds a short link on the QR company's own address, and every scan goes through their server before reaching your page. That's what lets you change the destination later. It also means the company decides whether the code keeps working.

Many "free" dynamic codes are really a free trial. The code works while the trial runs, often a few days or weeks: just long enough to print it. When the trial ends without a subscription, the service can stop redirecting it or show its own upgrade page instead of yours. Others cap the free plan at a number of scans, so a busy menu or poster stops mid-week. Nothing about the printed code changes: it just goes somewhere else.

Already printed one? Check it with the free QR code checker: it reads the code from a photo or your camera and tells you whether it goes through a service that can switch it off. If a code has already stopped, here's what to do.

How to check a free dynamic code before you print

  1. Read what happens when the trial or free plan ends. It's usually in the pricing FAQ or the terms. Look for "deactivated", "paused" or "redirected".
  2. Look for a scan limit. A table card or a shop window can reach hundreds of scans a week.
  3. Make a test code and scan it. The address your phone shows first is the company's short link: that's the part you depend on.
  4. Check you can download your destinations. If you ever leave, a list of where each code goes helps you recreate them.
  5. Ask whether you need dynamic at all. A Wi-Fi password or a page that won't move is better as a static code: nothing in between, nothing to expire.

No card is needed to sign up, and nothing is charged unless you choose a paid plan. The editable codes use short links on qrsx.net, so scans go through our redirect service, and we promise that service in writing: see our guarantee.

What happens at the limits

That's the whole difference between our Free and paid plans for editable codes: how many you can have and change, how far back the charts go, and design extras like logos and frames. Whether a code works never depends on the plan. Paid plans start from $4/month billed annually ($5 monthly); see Plans.

Questions

Is there really a free dynamic QR code with no expiration?

Yes. On QR Code Spot's Free plan, your 3 editable codes have no time limit and no scan limit. They keep working whether or not you ever pay.

Why did my free dynamic QR code stop working?

Most likely a free trial or a free plan's scan limit ended at the service that made it. Sign in there to see; if you can't, the printed code needs replacing.

How many times can I change a free code's destination?

5 times a month, across all your codes together. The count starts again on the 1st of each month.

Do people who scan my free code see ads?

No. On every plan, including Free, a scan goes straight to your page with no ad or page of ours in between.

What if QR Code Spot closes?

We'd give at least 6 months' notice by email, editable codes keep redirecting during that time, and you can download every code's destination. Static codes don't depend on us at all.
