How to make one
- Enter your PromptPay number. The mobile number, or the 13-digit citizen ID or tax ID, that you registered for PromptPay with your bank. A 15-digit e-wallet ID works too. We check an ID's own check digit, so a mistyped one is caught before you print.
- Add an amount, if you like. In baht, like 50 or 120.50. Leave it empty to let the payer type it.
- Download and test. Pay ฿1 to yourself from another account and check the name the app shows, before you print a batch.
What's inside the code
A Thai QR payment code with your PromptPay number, the amount if you set one, and a checksum that lets the banking app spot a damaged code. There's no name inside: the payer's app looks up the name registered to your PromptPay and shows it before they confirm. It's made in your browser, so your number isn't sent to us, and QR Code Spot never sees or handles the payment.
Mobile number or ID?
Either works, as long as it's registered for PromptPay. A shop or company often uses its tax ID, so the code isn't tied to someone's personal phone. If you move PromptPay to another bank account, the same code follows it; if you change the number or ID itself, make a new code.
Check it before printing
- Copy the number from your banking app's PromptPay settings rather than typing it from memory.
- The payer's app shows your registered name before they confirm. Check it's the name customers expect.
- An amount inside the code can't be changed after printing. For changing prices, leave it empty.
- Keep printed codes where you can see them, so nobody can stick another code over yours.
The code follows Thailand's standard QR payment format. QR Code Spot isn't connected with PromptPay, National ITMX, the Bank of Thailand or any bank.
Questions
Is this PromptPay QR code generator free?
Yes, with a free account and no card. There are no fees from us, and the code doesn't expire.
Which apps can pay with it?
Thai banking and e-wallet apps that pay by PromptPay: they read the same Thai QR payment format.
Can I set a fixed amount?
Yes. Enter it in baht, like 50 or 120.50. The payer sees it filled in and just confirms.
Can I change the amount after printing?
No. The amount is inside the code. For changing prices, leave the amount empty, or make a new code.
Is it the same as my bank's merchant QR?
No. A merchant QR from your bank comes with a business account and its sales reports. This code pays straight into the account linked to your PromptPay, which suits small shops, stalls, donations and bills.
